The Day I Realized I Could Talk to Spirits: My First Physical Mediumship Experience

I knew I could pick up on energy beyond the physical, but talking to people who had passed away? That was a whole different level.

This is the story of the day the "nail went in the coffin," and I realized I couldn’t ignore my mediumship anymore.

Stepping Into the Unknown: My First Open Reading

It started years ago through my son’s physical therapist. Over time, we became close friends. She was deeply interested in the metaphysical world—getting tarot readings, exploring energy, and talking about spirituality.

One day, as my own intuitive awareness was growing, I turned to her and said, "I think I can actually talk to people who have passed."

She was immediately open to it and asked if we could try a reading to connect with one of her relatives who had passed away.

Now, I want to be clear: I had never done an open mediumship reading before. I gave her a huge disclaimer right off the bat: "You are the very first person I have ever tried this with. There are zero promises. I don't know who or what will come through, or if anything will happen at all."

She agreed, and we sat down to begin.

Using the Pendulum & The First Wave of Validation

We started the session using a pendulum to help focus the energy. Almost immediately, I felt a presence come through.

The person my friend wanted to talk to was right there. As we went through the reading, questions were asked for confirmation—questions I had absolutely no way of knowing the answers to.

Answers started flooding into my head. Specific words, memories, and messages came out of my mouth that I didn't even fully process in the moment. The energy was electric, filled with so much love, surprise, and awe.

But just as we were wrapping up that connection, the entire energy in the room shifted.

The Physical Pain That Changed Everything

Suddenly, I felt another energy pushing its way through—almost like someone trying to elbow their way into a conversation. It was another one of her relatives, and they were desperate to be heard.

Then, it hit me.

My entire jaw and the side of my face erupted into excruciating, agonizing pain.

I have never felt physical pain like that during a reading before or since. It was so intense I actually had to stop and ask the spirit to back off a little bit and show me who they were in a different way.

I looked at my friend and said, "Someone else in your family passed away from cancer, or had a massive tumor or lump right here on their face."

The Phone Call: Uncovering the Truth

My friend looked at me, completely puzzled. She couldn’t recall anyone in her immediate memory fitting that description. But the energy was so persistent and overwhelming that she decided to call her mother right then and there.

She put her mom on speaker, described the physical details I gave her, and asked if anyone in the family had passed away like that.

Her mom went quiet, then said: "That’s your grandfather."

My friend had been just a baby when he passed away, so she had no memory of him or how he died. Her mother confirmed that he passed away from cancer that caused a tumor on his jaw and face.

I asked her: "It was in his jaw, wasn't it?"

Her mother replied: "Yes. How could you possibly know that?"

I looked at my friend and said, "Because I just felt it."

What This Taught Me About Mediumship & Validation

That experience wasn't just a reading—it was my personal wake-up call. It proved to me that spirit communication isn't just "in your head."

Here are three core truths that day taught me:

1. Physical Sensation is Real (Clairsentience): Mediums often experience "sympathetic pain" to verify how a spirit passed. It’s intense, but it acts as undeniable proof.

2. Validation Needs Zero Context: I knew nothing about her grandfather. The fact that my friend didn't even know until calling her mom proved I wasn't reading her mind—I was connecting with Spirit.

3. Trusting the Process: Spirit brings through what needs to be said, not always what we expect.

That was the day I stopped doubting myself and stepped fully into my role as The Unfiltered Medium.
